SCHOLARSHIPS |
|
In 1990,
the Genesee Valley WBA established a scholarship fund on a wing and a
prayer. The Scholarship Committee gathered information from other
bowling organizations to help establish their guidelines and by-laws and
in 1991 the first scholarship award was presented in the amount of
$250. The Committee originally set the fund up to award up to four
scholarships of $250 each annually.

By 1994,
it was evident the Committee would probably never get four applications
for the scholarship award so the decision was made to increase the award
to $500 but decrease the number of winners to two.

That
pattern was followed until 1999 when the Committee and the Board of
Directors reached the decision that the fundraisers and donations had been
successful enough to increase the scholarship award to $800.
