ACTS
OF THE BOARD |

During the course
of conducting business each year, the GVWBA Board of Directors makes
certain decisions which impact the local bowler. Each year at the
Spring meeting of the Genesee Valley WBA, the delegation is informed of
the "Acts of the Board" during the previous year and are asked
to ratify the Board's actions.

of the Board" |
August
1, 1998 - May 20, 1999
- GVWBA, for the 1998-99
bowling season, only, will pay the 50 cent dues increase to be paid to New
York State
- Eliminate the GVWBA
meeting at the August Workshop. The August Workshop will be workshop
meeting only and will be a combined workshop with the Perry Bowling
Association (Men's)
- The GVWBA Scholarship
award(s) will be increased to $800 (from the previous $500)
- The GVWBA direct
contribution to the Batavia/Buffalo VA Hospital will be increased from $800
to $1000
- For the 1998-99
season, GVWBA will donate $300 each to Genesee/Wyoming Hospice; Crossroads
House (Batavia) and Teresa House (Geneseo)
- GVWBA will sponsor
(pay the entry fee) the Association high average winner into the NYS Queen's
Tournament. If the high average winner is unable or unwilling to go,
we will proceed down the average list
- GVWBA will sponsor a
team entry into the next year's GVWBA Association Tournament by holding a
random drawing at the Spring Meeting from those teams entered in the
previous year's tournament
- New GVWBA shirts and
jackets will be purchased. Each director/officer will purchase their
own shirt and jacket and GVWBA will pay the cost of having the logo put onto
the jacket only.
- GVWBA will purchase 2
twelve foot banners to publicize our local tournament. These banners
will be displayed each year in the team house and the doubles/singles house
prior to the tournament dates.

14, 1999 - May 11, 2000
- Approved the purchase
of new officer and director name tags
- Approved a free
invitation to past Bennington Director, Molly Keene, to the Fall Dinner
Meeting in October 2000 for being a continuous top seller of two-year
planners, one of our fundraisers
- Approved the
distribution of the league secretary recognition certificates at the August
Workshop instead of the Spring Meeting in May
- Approved a $5
reimbursement to officers and directors who had prepared theme baskets for
the 1999 Fall Dinner Meeting
- Approved that, in lieu
of donated league gifts, ten theme baskets be prepared and donated by the
directors for door prizes at the October 2000 Fall Dinner Meeting (cost not
to exceed $10). In addition, officers and/or directors who are
craft-oriented can make door prizes and will be reimbursed for the materials
used
- Approved the
Association to purchase 500 "200 in 2000" pins to be available for
league secretaries, at a cost of $1 each, for distribution in their leagues
- Approved the purchase
of 17 "Star 2" pins from WIBC for the Board of Directors
- Approved a $25
donation to the GVWBA Scholarship Fund in memory of Eleanor Bell, wife of
long-time Batavia Bowling Association (Men's) Secretary-Treasurer, Ange Bell
- Approved a $25
donation to Batavia Hospice in memory of James Vallese, husband of long-time
GVWBA officer and director, Nancy Vallese
- Approved all BVL
league donations be made directly to the Batavia VA and not through national
headquarters in Washington, DC
- Approved a $300
transfer from the GVWBA general fund into the GVWBA tournament account to
assist with the increased prize money for the 1999-2000 tournament
- Approved distribution
in the amount of $400 each to Crossroads House in Batavia, NY; Teresa House
in Geneseo, NY; and the newly established Vincent House in Wayland, NY

10, 2000 - May 11, 2001
- Approved the
appointment of Karen Bonner as chairman of the Audit Committee for a one
year term
- Approved the retention
of overpayment of sanction fees by league secretaries
- Approved a 10 cent
increase in the Secretary-Treasurer's salary effective 08/01/00.
Effective that date, the salary will be $1.00/member
- Approved free
invitations to the 2001 Fall Dinner Meeting to: NYS Board Member, Barbara
Kreiley; Batavia BA President, Paul Spiotta; Batavia BA Secretary-Treasurer,
Ange Bell; Perry BA President, Arnie Taylor; Perry BA Secretary-Treasurer,
Bob Goodwin; GVWBA bowler, Florence Scherff (non-board member who sells
GVWBA day drawing tickets and supports and promotes all GVWBA efforts); and
Association tournament winners
- Approved a $25
donation to the National Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum in memory of Marion
Schoultice, past GVWBA board member
- Approved a $35
donation towards the retirement of NYSWBA President, Irene Kreidler
- Approved distribution
of one-third of the proceeds of the day drawing in the amount of $525 each
to Crossroads House in Batavia, NY; Teresa House in Geneseo, NY; and Vincent
House in Wayland, NY
- Authorized the
Secretary-Treasurer to continue with the upgrade of the WIBC Winlabs program
to enable the Association to transfer funds electronically
